Do you use an automatic dispatcher?

Some transportation companies employ a technology called Auto Dispatcher. This allows them to automatically dispatch orders to drivers through a computer rather than using a live dispatcher. Although this may save the transportation company money, it can lead to unnecessary errors and dispatching vehicles based on when they become available rather than current location and proximity to client. This means that a driver may become available who is 45 minutes away from the client and he/she will be dispatched to the job. A few minutes later another vehicle may become available that is only 5 minutes away from the client but he/she will not be sent to the job. Live dispatchers always ensure that the chauffeurs are sent on jobs the efficient way. Vincent Limousine does not utilize Auto Dispatcher.

Who is an employee?

As defined by the IRS, an employee may be instructed when, where, and how to work and may be trained to perform services in a particular manner (independent contractors use their own methods). Vincent Limousine hires all of its chauffeurs as employees. This means that Vincent Limousine has total control over the amount of training its chauffeurs participate in, it has control over what the chauffeurs wear, and it establishes the rules that chauffeurs must abide by in order to be an employee of Vincent Limousine and Vincent’s managers are able to give reviews to monitor performance. Because all of our chauffeurs are employees and not independent contractors, we are able to schedule chauffeurs based on customer’s needs, not upon driver availability Vincent Limousine chauffeurs receive health benefits and 401K participation. Our career chauffeurs are extremely safety conscious as they depend on their clean driving record to earn their living.

Who is an independent contractor?

The IRS defines an independent contractor as a worker who is in business for him or herself. As a general rule, when an independent operator is hired, the payer only has the right to control or direct only the result of the work done and not the means and methods of accomplishing the result. A transportation company that hires independent contractors as chauffeurs cannot enforce: chauffeur policies, a dress code, schedules, training, cannot require meeting attendance, and cannot discipline if problems arise. Using an independent contractor network is in essence using a broker or consolidator that employs hundreds of separate companies. The biggest problems companies face with independent contractor’s are scheduling conflicts and inability to discipline if issues arise. Vincent Limousine does not employ the independent contractor model.

What is Vincent Limousine’s cancellation policy?

We have a simple policy in this complicated world. We do NOT charge if you cancel one hour in advance of your reservation time.
If your vehicle left our garage toward you, you pay a one-hour service charge.
If we’ve sent the vehicle further than an hour away toward your location and you cancel it, we will bill you for the time spent going toward you and returning back home to our facility.
In-town Cancellations made in-advance of one hour before your scheduled pick-up time. NO CHARGE.

What is Vincent Limousine’s rate structure?

Your hourly rate for travel in Manhattan and its outer boroughs is based on a ninety-minute minimum. This means that if you request a vehicle and use it for only thirty minutes, you’ll be charged for an hour and a half. Why?
Because we base our rates on portal-to-portal service; the time your vehicle leaves our terminal until the time it returns. That additional half hour is travel time used to initiate your trip and complete it.
Your rate will reflect charges for tolls and parking if they apply. If they don’t, it won’t.

Your rate for service outside the greater New York metropolitan area will be quoted upon request. We’d drive you to California if you asked. Ask! But be prepared for us to quote you a price reflective of these types of trips.

Your rate will not include a chauffeur gratuity, so if you want to tip your chauffeur for extraordinary service, please do so. If you wish for us to bill you for your chauffeurs gratuity, just say the word, and tell us the amount.

Your rate may reflect a nominal fuel expense surcharge in times of national or international crude oil price spikes.

Your rate will include a per-minute charge for our on-board wireless communication devices. Please feel free to text, call, IM or e-mail from the back seat. You’ll only be charged if you use these services.

How do I know when to select Point-to-Point/Airport Services vs. Customer Directed (hourly)?

Point-to-Point should be used when traveling between two (2) specific locations such as your office and a hotel. Customer Directed should be selected when either the drop off location is not known in advance or, the trip will require stops along the way. For Customer Directed services, an hourly rate will be quoted.
